Miraculous Last Week

Blog 9/11/2017

Well, I never actually thought this day would come, and now I wish it would go away.  I hope y'all had a great week because mine was so great.  At the beginning of the week we didn’t seem to have like any appointments set up, which especially worried us because we wanted to see all of our progressing people before I left.  It was the first week of school here so that had a lot to do with it.  Well by the end of the week we had so many miracles seeing people we haven’t seen in a long time so I know the Lord blessed us on my last week here.  News for the week is that I’m getting transferred and so is Elder Brown.  I think it will be good for him and I’m really excited to see who his next companion and area are.

We started off the week with an exchange and ended it with an exchange.  I think I told you last week was our zone activity so after that we had the Wakefield Elders exchange with us in our area because the live so far away.  I was able to go with Elder Britsch who is actually from PG and we had an awesome night.  Right before the exchange Elder Brown and I had to take the Petersburg elders home from the church and right before we got to their apartment I got a flat tire!  This is the second exchange I got a flat on this transfer and the only 2 my whole mission....  So I threw on the spare really quick and we swapped with Wakefield.  By this time Elder Britsch only had like 15 min to knock some doors before we went to our lesson.  The first door we knocked though was a guy named William who is a Christian and really interested in our message.  We shared a 10 minute Restoration with him and he accepted a Book of Mormon and for us to come back.  He said he was going to read his Book of Mormon as soon as he got inside.

After that we had a lesson with Hilary and Vince and I think it was my favorite lesson I’ve had with them.  We went over The Family Proclamation with them and talked about it as we went through.  The spirit was so strong and they were super into it, making goals and talking about how they would apply it as we went along.  It was so cool to see the spirit work on them and how they didn’t worry about anything else at that moment but what was being talked about and felt.  They have been making huge improvements and I really hope they can keep it up.

Tuesday morning we went in at 7 and took the car to get fixed and sat at the shop for like 2 hours.  It wasn't too bad except for the TV.  They had the news playing and I guess they had a special ad thing going on for this real estate program thing called snap-flip that played for a solid 45 minutes or something on repeat.  Let me just tell you it was the worst haha.  Then after that we had district meeting which was good.

The last lessons we had was with a lady and her daughter.  We had met her earlier last week and she said we could come back so we did and she also invited her 21 year old daughter to talk to us.  They were super sweet and her daughter has leukemia.  It was really, really good talking to them and being able to share the Restoration with them because you could really see the hope that came into their eyes.  We got to see her daughter later in the week for a few minutes and she was really appreciative of us coming by and I see a lot of hope for them.

Wednesday morning we moved the Swift Creek elders out of our house into their new apartment.  They have been staying with us which isn't really in their area and they have to bike quite a ways to their church so it will be good for the elders there.  We also got to see the Catheys on Wednesday with Brother Green and had a sweet lesson with them.  They're going to be baptized soon, I know it.

Thursday was a lot of planning and just prepping Elder Brown for what we thought was going to be his next transfer here.  The night time was awesome though because we got to go on splits with the bishop.  One miracle from earlier in the day was when a less active lady texted us and asked if we could come over in the evening and give her a blessing!  We were able to go with the bishop and do that and also teach her and her husband who's not a member.  It was awesome.  We also saw the McRaes with the bishop.  We read in 1 Nephi about the Liahona and talked about the different kinds of guidance God gives us and it was really powerful.  They came to church last Sunday so hopefully that’s the start of returning to activity.

As for other awesome lessons, we were finally able to get ahold of the Maces and teach them which was a MIRACLE!  We haven’t seen them in over a month even though we have had contact so it was a blessing to see them.  School started here this week so they were a little wound up from being in school all day but they remembered sooo much from the last few lessons it blew me away so I think they're going to continue moving forward.

We finished our week with an exchange with Elder Nelson.  He’s a really good kid from Colorado and we talked a lot.  It was his first real exchange so I tried to make it fun and work hard.  He’s a really tender kid and this is his first transfer so I’m excited for him to really start to grow as he’s on his mission.

Really though it’s been an awesome week.  Sunday I was able to bear my testimony in church and we have been able to see a lot of the members I love here like the Brockmans and Hilary and Vince and we will see more today.  It really is amazing how the Lord puts people in your path that can help you learn and grow even if it’s just the small things.  We also had another girl in our ward who's leaving Wednesday for her mission so it's as really cool to see her and remember all the way back to 2 years ago.

It’s sort of weird because I don’t know how to end this week’s letter.  It almost doesn’t feel real that this is my last one so maybe I’ll just keep writing every Monday haha

I do have a testimony of this gospel though.  I know without a doubt that this is Christ’s church on the earth in these latter days and it has been restored through the prophet Joseph Smith.  I have the biggest testimony of the Book of Mormon and I know that it was translated through the power of God.  It is scripture and another testament of Jesus Christ.  I have seen the Book of Mormon change my life and the lives of others and help them understand God’s plan for them.  I have no doubt that God has a plan for us and I’m excited to see what else He has in store for me.  I love being a missionary in the VRM and wouldn't have traded a minute of it away.

Guess I’ll see yall soon!
